New College House Honored with GBCA Excellence in Craftsmanship Award

The organization’s annual awards celebrate the best construction projects and programs of the Philadelphia region.

The General Building Contractors Association (GBCA) recognized University of Pennsylvania, New College House, a 448-bed, 250,000 GSF residential college house, with an excellence in craftsmanship award for projects over $50M. The Excellence in Craftsmanship award recognizes a project that has demonstrated “exceptional care in detail, utilized new or different materials or technologies, and/or coordinated intricate building techniques.” The project was also recently recognized by Ludowici / Terreal North America in its annual Project of the Year Awards.

Designed in collaboration with INTECH Construction, CVM Engineering, Vanderweil Engineers, Meliora Design, and others, New College House creates a unique residential community at the University of Pennsylvania, providing a variety of amenities and services while integrating campus life within an urban context. As the second purpose-built college house completed by our practice for Penn, the project builds upon the program set forth in a campus-wide development plan to create a vital new addition to residential housing at the university.
