Ray Calabro to Join Luxe Interiors + Design Panel in Seattle
“Island Living: Designing and Building on Washington’s Islands,” hosted by Luxe Interiors + Design, will explore the challenges and inspirations behind the remote residences of the Pacific Northwest’s islands.
Ray Calabro, FAIA, Principal at our Seattle studio, will join Luxe Interiors + Design Pacific Northwest for its Design Panel Discussion on August 6th at Chown Hardware. The discussion aims to inform and inspire guests interested in learning more about residential design and development in Washington’s remote islands, including Bohlin Cywinski Jackson’s Henry Island Guesthouse as a case study. Featured as the cover story of Luxe’s January/February 2023 publication, Henry Island Guesthouse is part of an extended family retreat within the dense Henry Island forest. Despite being built years after the main residence, its design reflects the attention to detail and craft prevalent in the main house and responds to the natural context––a quintessential Pacific Northwest forest. Due to the project’s isolated location, the design team used prefabricated components from the mainland, which were later transported to the site for construction.
Ray joins fellow panelists Tad Fairbank, President/Owner at Fairbank Construction, Richard Hartlage, Principal/Owner at Land Morphology, Colleen Knowles, Principal at Colleen Knowles Interior Design, and moderator Mary Jo Bowling, Homes Editor of Luxe Interiors + Design.
