Marquez Hall Earns Merit Award at 2013 SCUP Awards

SCUP has awarded Marquez Hall a Merit Award in this year's SCUP/AIA-CAE Excellence in Architecture award program.

A seven member jury reviewed nearly 150 submissions and awarded 13 Honor Awards and seven Merit Awards. Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, in partnership with Anderson Mason Dale, designed Marquez Hall for the growing needs of the Petroleum Engineering Department at the Colorado School of Mines.

The building acknowledges the school’s elite status within the discipline and demonstrates the continued evolution of the petroleum engineering field. The laboratory building supports an interdisciplinary approach to petroleum engineering and innovative research. The building also defines a pedestrian gateway to a new Earth Science Quad and provides a classroom wing for the full student body and faculty.

Marquez Hall reinforces CSM’s vision for the future by looking to the user, to the campus, and to the community to achieve an architectural vocabulary to reflect school’s innovative research and programs. Marquez Hall and the team will be recognized at the SCUP Annual International Conference in late July.
