Bowling Green Hosts Groundbreaking for Technology Engineering Innovation Center
A significant renovation of BGSU’s existing technology building will create state-of-the-art learning and research spaces, meet critical workforce needs, and provide flexibility for future growth.
During its recent homecoming weekend, Bowling Green State University held a celebration for the revitalization of its Technology Engineering Innovation Center now underway. Originally built in 1971 as the Industrial Education and Technology Building, the facility houses the College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering administrative and faculty offices, classrooms, computer labs, program labs, and meeting rooms. Renovations and updates, which will add 24,000 square feet to the original building, include the demolition of its southern facade and an expansion to the south, and a renovation of its existing east wing. A new two-story addition will overlook a renovated high bay space, bringing natural light into collaborative areas. Heating, cooling, electrical, and security systems will all receive upgrades as part of an effort to create a more flexible and high performing facility for the university.
When complete, the Technology Engineering Innovation Center will anchor the University’s evolving STEM corridor on the north part of campus. As BGSU President Rodney Rogers noted, “these renovations will support our growing engineering programs and advanced technologies, providing our students with state-of-the-art facilities and learning opportunities to ensure they’re ready for career and life, as well as meeting critical work force needs for our state.” Construction is anticipated to be completed in the spring of 2026.
