Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Announces Staff Promotions
We are pleased to announce the elevation of a new Accounting Manager and Sustainability Director at our practice.
Theresa Sparacio, Accounting Manager
Professional, personable, accurate, trustworthy, hardworking, and respectful are some of the adjectives used to describe Theresa by her colleagues here at BCJ. Over the past few years, Theresa has continued to take on additional responsibilities in the Accounting Department. Theresa now has oversight of the Project Accountants and Accounts Payable as well as assisting the CFO in a variety of reporting projects required for our Firm. To that end, we are pleased to announce her well-deserved promotion to Accounting Manager.
Theresa is engaged in the bi-weekly firm-wide staffing calls. In this capacity, Theresa tracks future staff availability, navigating the many moving parts inherent in these conversations. Her diligence and responsiveness is a great asset in this regard.
In a similar vein of tracking the pulse of the entire firm, Theresa initiated a new series of project finance check-ins with Project Managers and Principals. These quarterly calls allow individual teams to report on any issues related to hours or fees and look ahead to future billing cycles. This is part of the larger initiative to bring more accountability to project finances.
Theresa will also be more visible on the Finance side of accounting, from collaborating with our CFO and accountants, to overseeing the monthly closing and Fiscal Year End tax reporting and auditing.
Margaret Sledge, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Director of Sustainability
Margaret Sledge has been promoted to Director of Sustainability; a new role created within the firm. Since joining our Philadelphia studio in 2020, Margaret has grown as a leader in advancing our sustainability efforts firmwide, including co-authoring an evolved Sustainability Action Plan, a document that was shaped by conversations, surveys, and workshops with staff from across our practice.
In her new role, Margaret will lead efforts to advance and elevate sustainability at Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, harnessing the ambitions of a firm committed to conservation, stewardship, and the interconnected role design plays in our environment. This will involve Margaret supporting our operations practice-wide, interfacing with individual projects, and collaborating with the Marketing and Communications team to drive performance, innovation, and the integration of sustainable practices within our work.
When Margaret was promoted to Senior Associate in 2023, we highlighted her work on the Greenhill School Valdes STEM + Innovation Center, BCJ’s first all mass timber project. Following its completion earlier this year, the Head of School and Assistant Head of School sent us the below note celebrating Margaret’s efforts on this transformative project:
“Margaret was an amazing partner for us and a true friend throughout the years we spent together on this project. Her dedication and commitment to our mutual vision for our building – which had sustainability at its core – was inspiring to witness on a daily basis. We feel so lucky to know her and to have been given the opportunity to work with her so closely.”
While Margaret’s role as a dedicated project manager will transition as she takes on this new Director role, this quote is a reminder of the deep connections she has formed with clients, and one of Margaret’s tasks will be to participate in new business development and marketing pursuits, leveraging both her expertise and her proven ability to build lasting relationships.
Please join us in congratulating Theresa and Margaret!
