Ray Calabro, FAIA to Give Keynote Lecture at Doors Open Denver 2026
Taking the Long View: Design, Landscape, and Legacy will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the firm’s process through the lens of celebrated projects across North America.
Principal Ray Calabro, FAIA will kick off the 2026 Doors Open Denver festival with a keynote lecture, Taking the Long View: Design, Landscape, and Legacy, that shares insights into the firm’s celebrated work and history of creating timeless buildings that seamlessly connect people, place, and landscape. The lecture, held at the historic Evans School, will also feature an intimate conversation between Calabro and Mike Albert, FASLA, Principal at the landscape architecture firm Design Workshop, about the creation of Highbank, an award-winning lakeside residence in Northern Iowa.
The lecture will also provide an in-depth look at several projects featured in a new BCJ monograph to be published this fall – A Long View: Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Houses 2016-2026. Featuring fifteen private residences across the US and Canada, A Long View shares the story of how the firm’s work has evolved across a wider range of geographical regions and fresh material expressions, led by an emergent group of design voices within the practice who are carrying forward its ethos of humane, deeply collaborative design.
Doors Open Denver 2026 (September 24-27) celebrates “Destination Downtown, an exploration of the architecture, urban planning, urban design, and public spaces at the heart of Denver.” The keynote lecture is made possible by presenting sponsor the Denver Design District, supporting sponsor Design Workshop, and venue sponsor the Historic Evans School.
