Waipolu Gallery and Studio

This 4,500sf private gallery and studio is located at the base of Diamond Head on the island of Oahu. Along one edge of the steeply sloped site, a bar building of concrete, glass and stainless steel defines the flexible space of the studio. Three horizontal "trays" separate the functions of guest quarters, home office and art display and storage. A voluminous copper clad structure encloses the primary gallery space while shaping large apertures to frame the Diamond Head and Pacific Ocean views. Careful placement of the gallery on the site and precisely shaped overhangs mitigate the effects of the tropical sun on precious artwork.
