Situated on the corner of George and King Streets in Sydney, the Apple Store occupies the first three levels of a 21-story building. Its façade is a three-story glass box that projects from the front of the building and extends towards George Street, mediating the transition between the street and the building. The facade also creates a counterpoint to the circa 1974 structure, which has undergone significant renovations to its exterior. A tall stair hall organizes the store. It is composed of two linear flights of glass staircases, stacked one above the other, between stainless steel walls. While it is at the back of the sales floors, the voids of the stair volume glow visibly from the street.
