The Apple Store in Glasgow presents a sensitive juxtaposition of the Apple identity within a prominent historic building. The historic shell of the Western Club, completed in 1841 by the well-known Glasgow architect David Hamilton, was preserved by inserting the new store behind the Italianate façade. The interior masonry was exposed and left in its rough state to contrast with the smooth finish of glass and stainless steel. A glass-faced mezzanine frames the façade, preserving the open hall at the entry.
