Berkeley Office of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Relocates to San Francisco

Bohlin Cywinski Jackson's Berkeley office has moved to San Francisco. The new larger, more distinctive space at 49 Geary Street is centrally located one block east of Union Square in a neighborhood noted for its many distinguished art galleries and rare book shops.
The move marks a major milestone for Bohlin Cywinski Jackson's northern California office, established in 1999 as a field office to oversee the construction of Pixar Animation Studios. Current projects by the San Francisco office, which now boasts a staff of 28, are a series of high-profile retail stores for Apple Computer, a new digital arts facility for the University of California Santa Cruz, the San Francisco annex for Adobe Systems, Inc., and a number of private residences.
The new office is an open studio with an exposed structure of raw, board-formed concrete columns and deck, accented by maple plywood panels and workstations. Telecommunications, lighting and life-safety system conduits are simple and unadorned. The space's southern exposure provides abundant natural light and views of busy Market Street.
