AN INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE

December 1, 2003, Tokyo, Japan

In late 2003, the first international high profile store for Apple Computer and first overseas project for Bohlin Cywinski Jackson opened to great fanfare in Tokyo. Five thousand people waited in line to get into the new store. The renovated building, with its stainless steel and glass vented rainscreen facade, features a rotating illuminated Apple logo sign that marks the building prominently within the Ginza shopping district. The Apple Store Ginza is the sixth in a series of high profile retail stores by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, and follows the completion of five major national locations: SoHo in New York, The Grove in Los Angeles, North Michigan Avenue in Chicago, and two smaller stores in Seattle.
