Groundbreaking for the Peace Arch Port of Entry Redevelopment
August 5, 2007, Washington
The groundbreaking ceremony for the redeveloped Peace Arch Port of Entry, designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, took place on Monday August 6th in Blaine, Washington. The project received the the 2006 GSA Design Excellence Honor Award for projects "On-the-Boards." In making its award the jury commented that "this should be a model and an inspiration fo future ports of entry. The design is at once sensitive and bold. It is architecture in the landscape. It shapes and marks its environment, but it is also deeply respectful of that environment."
The project is being managed by the U.S. General Services Administration's (GSA) Northwest/Arctic Region.
